The NYC Department of Education regularly partners with great city science, sustainability, and educational technology organizations to improve student learning and professional development. These outside organizations often provide free resources and training, so they are really worth looking into. These opportunities are only available to NYCDOE teachers with a valid DOE login.

Scientist In Residence Teacher Application
Bring a scientist or STEM professional to your classroom to conduct scientific investigations with your students.

Citizen Science Program Application
Middle school classes are paired with ‘research missions’ through local science & sustainability organizations to focus on the health of NYC estuary ecosystems. It is structured as an after-school program.

Budding Scientists-The Urban Ecosystem Application
Elementary school classes explore the New York City ecosystem in the classroom and beyond it.

Sustainability
NYC Solar Schools Program
The NYCDOE Office of Sustainability and the STEM Department are partnering to launch a program that will install solar cells across city schools to improve sustainability & resiliency.

Dates/Times: 3 days during school hours in Oct-Apr depending borough/grade

Educational Technology
Partner Certification for #NYCSchoolsTech
This program partners educators with various education technology companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft to learn more about the tools, become certified and even receive special perks can access the application directly.
Registration Deadline: Sep. 22, 2017
Grades: Elementary, Middle, & High School
Dates/Times: Usually 1 day (Common Sense Education & Microsoft are 2 days) with ongoing online participation and training
Locations: Mostly Manhattan with some in Staten Island & Brooklyn
